Shyamalan Symbolism

There are two kinds of people in the world and everybody fits into one group or the other. Are you a religious man would say everything happens for a reason? Or are you a non- believer who would say life events are coincidence or luck? In the movie signs by Shyamalan, he shows us how a man loses his faith and now thinks differently. But as a crisis begins to happen in his life he has to gain faith back in order to survive. Shyamalan reveals a theme that everything happens for a reason through flashback, characters and symbolism. Every flashback has a purpose and how it was shown, every character and their weakness has a purpose and every object had a meaning.

The first sign of symbolism is with the crop circles in the field the aliens used the circles for navigation. It's just like people believing in God and they believe God guides them through life. Morgan was using the baby monitor as a walkie talkie and he could hear the aliens through the walkie talkie. However that's just, like humans praying to God, you only talk to God one way, but he answers you in many different ways he may show you signs, he may lead you in a certain path or may bless you in a way you need it. Everything has a meaning and purpose nothing is a mistake some stuff happens to prepare you for the future.

As you can see M. Night Shyamalan has shown his theme through many different literary devices. He has shown people that the overall theme is everything happens for a reason. The viewer of the movie may now question themselves and say, Am I the one who believes everything happens for a reason? Or are you the other kind of the person in the world who thinks everything happens because of
