Should your school participate in the national “Shut Down Your Screen Week”? I say yes as this can help students become better thinkers in the classroom and any atmosphere as we are technically not thinking our phones and computers are thinking for us. How you ask because we primarily we our cell phones or computers to look up information and get answers and get answers that primarily know or have learned. Shutting down our screen will help students become more engaged and force us to actually learn.

Using our time to shut down our screen will force us students to be more engaged in class and while learning. When we use our computers and cellphones we typically become distracted causing us to “learn less, understand less, and remember less”. If our screens were off this would force us to pay attention, generally leading to us actually learning and becoming focused. “The Net bombards us with messages and other bits of data, and every one of those breaks our train of

However this is not primarily true we do find information quicker but we don’t process it and actually learning from it we just write down what it says on the internet. We are not actually gathering any information but during shutdown your screen week we will have to truly gather any information that our teacher is teaching us forcing us to learn. Author Nicholas Carr says it best “If we’re distracted, we understand less, remember less, learn less” (IGMUS).

Student as well as teachers should be enthusiastic for Shutdown Your Screen Week. Students are not actually thinking for themselves or learning in class as we use our technology to do it for us. Shutdown your screen week will be good for us and should happen as it will help us focus more, become more engaged in class, think for ourselves, and ACTUALLY LEARN in school. WE NEED thid week we NEED TO SHUT DOWN OUR SCREENS
