In Shrek, Fiona waits for her knight and shining armor to rescue her from this evil curse. Fiona, a princess who is to marry into a hierarchical family, declines Farquaads marriage because she loves Shrek. This gave Fiona’s character an image of independence and strength. While in Legally Blonde, a character that plays the “dumb blonde,” so they interpret that she is in the beginning of the film. At the end of the film she comes to her senses that she is not so dumb as people think she is when she gets into Harvard. Then there was a time when girls believed they were weak because men would make little comments making them feel weak. Fiona and Ella felt as if they were weak in the beginning of the film and towards the end of the film they both realized that they were strong and able to make their own decision. Erin and the rest of her teammates from South Plantation High School proved the ones who thought females shouldn’t play football wrong. Erin went out to play football and there were people against it but she did not mind what their opinions were because she was going to keep on doing what she loves and not let a man tell her what she can or can’t not do. It’s difficult for girls to follow their dreams because boys are always going to be right next to you telling you that you are too weak, you are too dumb, and girls aren’t able to do that. Often girls are then robbed of the benefits of playing sports, which is one of the strongest confidence-building activities at a time when they need it the most (Our). When you are in that position, that is the time to put your foot down and be independent. Girls are stronger than boys mentally and physically, that is why boys tend to bring down girls. Boys want to feel powerful once they’ve weaken you, so take a stand for yourself, do want you want to do, and be who you want to
