Hat Day Hat day happens every Friday at our school. Students pay $1.00 to wear their hat at school. I think we should have hat day every day! To begin with, Hat day earns a lot of money for our school.…

Researching nontraditional students allowed me to capture the thoughts and feelings of these students in regards to involvement outside of the classroom. This research will give the campus an opportunity to reach out to this student population when planning events and take into consideration some of the challenges faced by non-traditional students. Student organizations on campus can also learn how to increase participation and membership in the organization from the non-traditional student. The overall goal is to give the nontraditional students a voice and allow administrators the opportunity to further support this student group.…
Transcripts During my time at Lemoore High School I have maintained a B+ Average, I have been labeled as a “Conscientious Student”. I was challenged by language classes such as, English and Spanish. Freshman year I received my first B’s in both subjects. I then was able to figure out how to better myself in classes and to maintain good grades, but the second semester of junior year I received a D in English 3AP.…
When considering the type of climate and culture Park Middle School expects to provide to students and staff, many factors contribute to Park receiving mostly comfortable collaborative and fully collaborative ratings according to the descriptors in Gruenert and Whitaker’s School Typology Activity (see Appendix F). Following further review of the School Culture Typology Activity, three aspects of the results immediately resonated with me. First, there is the fact that our staff scored “comfortable collaborative” regarding openness amongst themselves as well as administration. We, as teachers, are committed to meeting during team planning but the discussion of practices requires stronger interest in the actual instruction approaches implemented.…
My most positive high school experience for me has to be when I was inducted into National Honor Society for my senior year. This was something that I has been striving to do since my freshman year after I received my first academic letter. But after our school decided to only allow seniors to be inducted, raised the GPA requirement, and reduced the amount of people that would be allowed to be inducted I wasn’t sure if my goal would still be attainable. But after three years of strenuous classes, constant volunteer service, and keeping my grades up I finally received an acceptance letter and was inducted into NHS where I am able to surround myself with others that have the same academic goals as…
Ethos- is the school’s values and beliefs, the schools philosophy and the atmosphere of the school. In working practice this might reflect in religious images on display in Faith Schools for example and the way certain festivities are celebrated in a school. Staff and pupils should reflect a school’s ethos in their attitude, there should be a positive atmosphere and people should take pride in their surroundings and be happy with the way the leaning takes place. Mission- or Motto, is the schools intention as set out by the Head Teacher it will also overlap with the values, vision and aims…
A Movement Towards Common Schooling “Educate and inform the whole mass of the people... They are the only sure reliance for the preservation of our liberty.” These are words spoken from Thomas Jefferson who always imagined and dreamed of a state wide school system that benefited the mass of the population. This system would educate children no matter what race, ethnicity, or religion in ways that would help them become well rounded citizens. This dream by Jefferson was soon initiated through the Common School movement built by Horace Mann.…
The crowd is roaring and you can feel the intensity radiating off of the court. Glancing around, there are tons of people on the edge of their seats, holding back screams and fist pumps. School Spirit is something that defines a school and truly gets students involved. With school spirit, sporting events and other activities are drastically improved for the players and everyone attending. Atmospheres like Iowa State basketball games, or Nebraska football games are some of the things that people look forward to on the weekends, and there is no saying that high school scenarios should be any different.…
To reflect on the many theories, strategies, and planning processes discussed throughout this course, one section particularly stood out to me. The 21 responsibilities of the school leader presented in the Marzano book provided some insights into frequently occurring responsibilities of the school leader. As stated in the book, the “wide array of behaviors explains why it is so difficult to be an effective school leader. (Marzano , Waters, & McNulty, 2005, pg. 41).…
To have a good friendship that will last, you must respect another’s freedom of choice, just as they respect yours. Without valuing others; beliefs, you cannot expect them to value yours. In school, showing respect to staff and students encourages them to portray their own ideas by creating an open, comfortable environment. By showing respect in school, you can encourage kindness and honor, instilling the worth and enhancing the self-esteem of every student. My parents talk about core values at work to me and my brother and one of these values is respect.…
Love Your Schools is a program to prevent childhood obesity by teaching elementary school children in Little Rock how to eat properly and stay active, as well as the pros and cons of doing so. I wasn’t sure what to expect when going in for my service learning project; I tried to avoid expecting anything. When I got there, I was pleased with how smoothly everything went. I was aware ahead of time that I would not be teaching the nutrition plan alone. Two workers from Americorp joined in to help lead the class.…
