As Debs quotes "They have always taught and trained you to believe it to be your patriotic duty to go to war" meaning the government has taught one as a child to serve your country. As you go along in school one develops this mentality that as a citizen of this country one has to fulfill duties that will help the country like fighting in wars. For example, since the start of school a person is required to pledge allegiance to the flag. Students would get in trouble if they were to refuse pledging to the flag. Similar to the draft if one were to resist it, then they would not be for filling their so call duties as a citizen of the United States.…

Pros of the Military Draft Research shows that the military draft makes our country stronger by making our government and people stronger as a whole. Our nation would not have to struggle to find enough people to fight. A country with the draft would be brought together in unity in a sense of nationalism. The draft also has worked successfully for America in the past and continues to work for foreign countries still today.…

It is financially unstable, cannot be justified as a moral situations to put civilian in, and it could possibly make the army worse because of some of the untrained and unskilled soldier’s. It should be about the quality of soldier’s not the quantity. That is why I am again this idea of mandatory national service and I hope that this puts these ideas into perspective. In conclusion, more experienced fighters should be fighting not kids who have just gotten into or out of college who have no experience, even if there is a national emergency, there are plenty of willing soldier’s to fighter. If they are willing and consent then they can participate in the national service.…

Some people feel that the draft is a necessity even during times of peace and want it to be reinstated. What those individuals really want is mandatory service requirements. The draft was used in the past because of a shortage of troops, however that’s not the case today. We should not reinstate the military draft because we currently do not need soldiers, it is unclear of who would serve and who would not and how they may perform, and the military would be demoralized due to lack of commitment and comradery from potential…

When a country enters a war, it needs lots of people to help out. This may be done in many ways but serving in the armed forces is one of the biggest way to help. If the country that is in battle doesn’t have enough troops, they may need to institute a draft to help defend the country. One example is during the Vietnam War when few people were enlisting and the US needed to get more troops, so they began the first draft. The US did this not for a stupid reason but to help protect the country and the people’s freedom.…

It has been said that America is the land of the free and the home of the brave, but really America isn’t free if young men and women have to serve a mandatory service in the military. If a young man or woman wants to fight and die for our country on the front lines of war, that it should be their decision to make. First reason, young people in this country have so much more to live for. It is a proven fact that 17.68% of the young people that go into war die. It is also a proven fact that 48.20% are casualties.…

One of the biggest talked about subjects can be summed up in one question, "Can government interfere with legalizing recreational marijuana if it's a states choice?" According to the ninth amendment, " The enumeration in the constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people. " Meaning, even though there are states rights that exist, like the use of recreational marijuana, it does not mean a state's rights can be violated by interference of the federal government. Along with the tenth amendment that states, "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."…

One controversial issue over the past couple of years has been the topic of child soldiers. On one side, people argue that child soldiers should be prosecuted. On the other hand, others contend that they should be given amnesty. My own view is that child soldiers should be given forgiveness for what they have done because they were forced into killing, they were manipulated, and they only had one choice once they entered the army: Kill or be killed. When villages are attacked and families are taken away for children, they don’t know any better and they believe that the commanders are the adults that they should trust.…

Men and women who volunteer to fight for the autonomy of America are a very diligent, select few, they deserve the utmost respect and honor for the charitable acts that they do. As aforementioned, these soldiers are a select few. Not everyone is made to take to the field as soon as there is word of war. However, this does not mean that American citizens have no place in war, every able man and woman in America should have to aid the troops in some way; whether it be through medical needs, moral support or monetary assistance. There are pros in having a draft, but in the end, the cons outweigh the pros indefinitely.…

Should citizens have the right to say no to the military. They should have every right to say no to the military if the government says to join. Citizens have the right to say no because its their decision, not the governments, there is already enough volunteers or either their religion does approve them to go. In my personal opinion i think citizens have the right to refuse the armed forces. Everyone has right in the United States, the have right for themselves, so in that case citizens have the right to say whatever they want to the government.…
