Research Question:
Is exercise therapy is the most effective intervention in patient with shoulder impingement syndrome?
Aims/Objectives:
Interventions and treatments for patients with shoulder impingement syndrome that physiotherapist choose and apply differ from physiotherapist to another which led me to this research question where the author aim to compare, summarise and evaluate previous researches to determine the most effective therapeutic intervention in the treatment of patients with shoulder impingement syndrome.
Introduction:
Shoulder problems consider as one of the common problems affecting musculoskeletal system where it may result in disabling …show more content…
Green 2005 summarizing and critically appraising the many researches conducted relevant to the topic of interest and then analysing and synthesising the outcomes and results is called systematic review.
Systematic reviews is one of the most important way to find the answer of this question .The importance of this methodology is that in systematic reviews many researches are appraised and synthesized or analyzed , depending on the type of the studies involved whether quantitative or qualitative studies , which is on of the advantages of systematic reviews but also to avoid the inevitable disadvantage of sample bias in a matter of the sample number or one type of population and it may increase the chances of generalizability (S.Green 2005)
According to Keele university and University of Durham 2007 the systematic review contain many important features such as stating the research question and the methods used to analyze the data, the documentation of the searching method of the data to allow to the readers to assess how much this research could be replicated and how well the studies which has been included carried out , the inclusion and exclusion criteria used for the data and the analysis tool applied for the literatures …show more content…
-Data extraction: (will be from 22/4/2011 to 6/5/2011)
Constructing a table or a data extraction form is what this step is aiming for which will decrease the possibility of bias and make it easier to document the results. Keele University and University of Durham (2007).
This form will help in avoiding any mistakes or misunderstanding of the researches , increase the probability of acquiring accurate information by checking it and make sure to document and obtain the information desired to be collected (Teing 2007).
The author will aim in constructing the data extraction form to include the relevant items. The points which will be used in the form are:
(the title , the source , study design , the sample size , the sample sex , the sample age , the sample occupation , the interventions , the outcomes , the author comments
