Animal Abuse?
Zoos across the planet have held animals for many years now, some have lived wonderful lives and others have been abused during their stay at the zoo. The question is; Should keeping animals in zoos be considered animal abuse, this is a debatable topic due to the fact that in the past animals have been abused in zoos and people find this an injustice to animals. It is okay for animals to live in zoos, because zoos are treating animals better than before, they are using animals for educational purposes only, and they are helping animals, but many people are against having animals in zoos because they would not like to be in a glass habitat so why would animals, but the benefits of animals being kept in zoos outweighs the negatives. …show more content…
Although this article says lots of bad things about zoos they explain that some zoos are helpful, according to “Reasons To Rethink Zoo,” it says “Some zoos have something called reintroduction programs. According to the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, reintroduction programs are programs where animals are rehabilitated from injuries or illness, or situations where they are found away from their home and need to be relocated. Once an animal fully recovers, they are then released back into the wild.” This provides evidence that zoos are trying to change the way they treat animals, but some zoos already treat animals well, some zoos have programs that help injured animals get better and when they get better then they are released back into the wild where they came from. Also, according to “Honey I Shrunk the Zoo,” it says “We're not an attraction. We are a science-based, education-based organization.” This is evidence that zoos are not hurting animals, and it shows that zoos are not attractions they are learning opportunities. As a result, “Honey I Shrunk the Zoo” says that animals have been abused but zoos are changing their ways, and multiple zoos already treat animals well. This proves that zoos are helping animals. This evidence provides evidence to prove that zoos are not using the animals for entertainment but for education purposes, and the zoos that have used animals for entertainment are changing how they treat
