Should Women Stay On The Front Line Essay

“Instead of seeing my strengths and how I could contribute to an evading crew, he only saw my gender- Major Mary.” (Hegar 2012)This should not stop anyone for shooting for the stars and reaching their goals. Who would want to stop someone from doing something they’ve always wanted to do? To me, letting women fight on the front line would let them live a dream or continue on a tradition their family started. We as women need to start standing up for what we believe in, and as of this year we are doing so. This shouldn’t of took as long as it did to get it passed by congress. Women on the front line/combat should of been passed in 1920 when the 19th amendment was passed for women to vote. As stated in the constitution Article 1, Section 8, Clause 12, men ages 18-25 are required to fill paperwork out for the draft, but it does not mention women signing up at all. It shouldn’t matter on the sexual orientation of the person.The pentagon stated that they approved women fighting on the front line in the year of 2015, (Chappell, 2015), The connection to this issue is that last year there were only taking men 16-25 in combat due to the Military Selective Act. Another constitutional principle is the 14th amendment, the reason being is that women deserve to have equal rights as men in any situation.
