Do you think women should be able to play in the NBA? There is a big debate on whether women should be allowed to play in the NBA with men. I honestly believe women should. Men in the NBA and women in the WNBA have the same skill, but society shows more love to the men than the women, what is your opinion on this? I fully support that women having the right to play with men in the NBA for several different reasons.

Women are being treated differently because of the sex and lack of ability. I believe along with a bunch of others that women are and can be just as good as men in basketball. Men don't believe women can handle the physical activity or the ability that the men in the NBA have, but that's not true. Women are

And most people don't care as much about WNBA even if some of the professional girls are better than the boys. It doesn’t make sense why boys and girls can practice together, but not play together. Because in most colleges the girls and boys basketball team practice together and play a small pickup game every so often. If it's illegal for women to play with men in the NBA than why can men and women practice together, it doesn't make sense, I feel men don't want to lose to …show more content…
I know that they are separated in the NBA for certain reasons that do have good meanings to them but I know that women could change the opinions of people if they were just given a chance to prove that they can go against men. If women were allowed in the NBA I think they would bring a lot of advantages to the league. Some advantages they would bring is more fans because all the fans of the WNBA would become fans of the NBA and more attention such as newsfeed on the internet and talk shows and so much more. I believe women should be given a chance so they could show the world that just because the people in the NBA are men doesn't mean they are better than

Out of 20 of the people asked from the Mareeba basketball club 18 said they would enjoy playing netball if there was a men’s tournament. This would increase men understanding that it is okay for them to play netball and also introducing younger boys to the sport and eventually joining the local netball club. This would increase opportunity for men to play at a state level and even worldwide as they would have a better opportunity at getting to the level needed. In sport today I believe women are treated in an unfair way to their male counterparts. Sport is controlled by the media in this century and women are looked at as sexual objects rather than for their talent like men are. The women are also then expected to wear skimpy clothing not because it’s better for the sport but because of marketing. Professional female athletes are seen as inferior to their male counterparts and therefore don’t get as much media coverage. Women athletes play the exact same games, train equally as hard, yet are still getting paid a large amount less than men.…

This can be equated to women being treated unequally because the sport has been very male orientated for so long. Messner’s conclusion of men being conditioned to enjoy sports from a young age still seems to be true after all this time. Sports are so conditioned into our society, mainly to straight, white, cis-gendered males, that it is next to impossible to get rid of now. Although there are cases of women breaking down those gender norms, it is only a hope that women will continue to break them…

The sport all together is the same. Everyone plays by the same rules and restrictions, but there’s just too much of a difference between the genders in sports. Men and women have different playing styles and they do not mix well. They have been separated for a very long time and they should remain that way for many of the reasons that I have listed above. There will always be women that can beat men in their respected sports and vise versa, but the game is setup the way it should remain for women to play competitive against women and men to play against other…

Because advertisers promote male sports, people are willing to pay for NBA tickets which are sold for $10-120 unlike the “WNBA” tickets sold for $10-35 a seat in women’s basketball unlike (Female Athletes Salaries 1). Men receive so much money from sponsors unlike women. Is this because of their talent, or the sponsor’s ability to promote the team or athlete? It is known that men’s sports in general bring in higher ratings than women’s sports, because they are not televised as much. On the other hand, sports enthusiasts are just as responsible for the higher television ratings for men over women.…

Yes the WNBA is the female counter part, but the league is tiny compared to the NBA. The WNBA cannot afford to pay its athletes like the NBA does because it does not produce the revenue or have the exposure the NBA has. The WNBA and NBA cannot be compared because the two don’t even run during the same season. When the WNBA was in the beginning stages of the league the NBA officials felt their WNBA counterpart was unable to share the arena with the team since it would put two basketball teams in one arena (Leslie). Unfortunately this argument seems to be a failure since many NBA teams have shared their arenas with NHL teams whose season runs at the same time as the NBA.…
