The Paycheck Fairness Act, “has not been able to achieve its promise of closing the wage gap because of limited enforcement tools and inadequate remedies” continuing to cause controversy (ACLU, 2015, para. 2). Discrimination is illegal in America, and applies in work forces. The Equal Pay Act is agreeable with all the circumstances that are added. “The EPA requires, as a general rule, that men and women who work in jobs that are substantively equal in terms of skill, effort, responsibility, and working conditions shall receive the same pay” (Fugiero). The Equal Pay Act is necessary because it compensates those doing the work despite gender, evaluates work based on abilities to perform work related tasks, and gives everyone the chance to live the American dream regardless of race, gender, or age.…

Women work in lower-paid sectors than men do. There isn’t a gap in the pay between genders that do the same job, but a gap between the pay of the jobs that each gender gravitate towards. As a matter of fact, 90% of women are employed in the lowest-paid jobs . This is the reason why women earn less, not because they are paid less for the same job, they gravitate towards lower paid work. Common jobs for men are jobs like software developers, construction and computer system operators; women gravitate towards jobs like nurses, primary school teaching and human resources and administration.…

Women in the work force have been fighting for equal pay for over 100 years. In 1869, a bill proposed equal pay for women in the federal work force. It was passed through the House of Representatives by nearly 100 votes, but was watered down in the Senate to only include new employees. However, the bill wasn 't enforced and women working federal jobs were still paid less than men. New York state passed the Grady bill in 1891 stating that all teachers must receive equal pay.…

Injustice: In my opinion injustice is the lack of fairness and equality between two or more people or groups. The Difference in Pay Between Genders in Canada One large injustice found in the economic industry is the gap between a woman 's average income and a man 's average income. According to the Statistics Canada data report conducted in 2011, women made an estimated 74 cents for every dollar a man made in relation to fulltime income. This is actually better than in 1987 where women were paid only 64 cents for every dollar made by a fulltime male worker. Statistics show that the gap between male and female annual income is narrowing, but still a problem.…

In America, one tends to think both women and men are paid equally, but women are paid less than men even at the exact same job. According to the article, “The Wage Gap 2014” in 2012 as full time workers, men made $854 per week while women only made $691, a gender wage ratio of 80.9 percent. The pay gap is larger than most people realize even with both a man and a woman having a college education. This has been an issue for America since 1868 and still is not resolved today. With women working the same jobs as men, it is only fair that they should be paid the same as the men working with them.…

At the end of the day, not being paid as much as a man for working in the same position is going to ultimately dent and hinder household incomes. With divorce rates being so high and single parent families seem to be always growing in numbers, such households are sadly losing out; there is a risk that those households could find themselves quickly falling into the poverty line, with no way of climbing out of it. This hardly seems fair! One thing I would also like to point out is the risk of going to extremes to hire women for certain positions, but who may not perform as well as males who could be more…
