Rape In The Military Analysis

First off I want to say, that this was the hardest movie I have ever watched in my life, seeing what all those women and men had to go through was heartbreaking and knowing that when they were fighting their cases that I was in basic training. Thinking about it now, that this could have happened to me, I could have been one of the thousands of women who were sexually assaulted and still are being sexually assaulted in the Military. This movie was about women and men speaking out about what had happened to them in their time in service. Many of them in this film were women, but there are men who get sexually assaulted too, it’s just not women and more people need to know that. 1% which equals 20,000 males are sexually assaulted in the Military (Kirby, 2012). It’s not ok for this to be going on and most of the time the military wants to cover it up and act like nothing has happened, when it has happened and it is still happening today. This film has opened my eyes so much and also has scared me because nothing is being done about it, yes they have us take SHARP classes yearly, but no one pays attention or cares. There needs to be more done than just taking a class action need to be taken and it needs to be corrected before more females and males end up in the same situation that these men and women are

In post 9/11 America, it is not very common to see a book that doesn 't portray the men and women of the United States Military in a positive light. Most Americans regard all soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines as heroes who have a strong moral compass and always try to do the right thing. However the reality can be quite different. The reality of war is that it is dirty, ugly, and rarely, if ever, a glorious affair. All armies throughout history have had their share of incidents that they would rather forget and the modern US Army is no different.…

The Hunting Ground brings into light a topic that has been taboo for centuries in our society. As it is established in the documentary, the universities, to keep their rape stats low, don’t take these allegations seriously and try to keep the women from reporting it to the police. Both women and men who have been raped and assaulted talk about the circumstances where and when these offences took place. Most say that people who they have either met or someone who they consider a friend does these rapes and assaults. Also that they take the help of a lot of alcohol and roofies to keep the victims under control.…

It is disheartening to hear about this in the news, but I am proud of the women who are brave enough to speak out. It makes me think about the recent #metoo movement and how it can be empowering to be honest about your experiences. It is difficult to speak up about sexual harassment, assault, and rape, but I think it is extremely important to do so. I was proud when my own mother and several of my friends partook in the #metoo movement. I aspire to one day be brave enough to do the same.…

Rape in the Fields, a 2013 PBS documentary, showcases the epidemic of sexual assault in America 's fields and farms. The sexual assault is primarily committed on undocumented women by their superiors and has gone, for the most part, unchallenged by the American government. Undocumented workers in all areas of America are vulnerable to exploitation. There are only a few jobs available to them and, with the lack of available resources and support, employers have no incentive to provide humane working conditions.…

It needs to go further than simply training military members and telling them that it is bad.…

    1. Why was it important for Sandy to keep the school principal and others informed about her plans? It is important to keep the school officials informed because she would have to validate her reasoning for wanting to address the situation via a group rather than individually. Because this is not the school 's usual protocol and there would probably be some skepticism of her desire to handle the situation in this manner, so it is important for this to be a collaborative effort. Moreover, Sandy was working with teens who had a history of violent behavior, so for her safety and the children 's as well it would be wise to keep officially informed of the group 's progress.…

Women are assaulted daily; in fact one in every five women experience sexual assault. Rape shouldn’t be a tool for entertainment, women deserve an opportunity to face their daemons rather than be forgotten within the plot line. Jada Yuan structures her piece with her idea, “[Women] deserve yo have their traumas acknowledged. They deserve their stories to be told ” (Page 4). This is an obvious representation of how our society functions; ask women to raise their hands if they have ever been sexually assaulted and you will see a lack of hands, begin talking about rape and sharing stories…
