Should Women Be Allowed To Get Abortion?

Abortion
One of the biggest debates in today’s society, is the argument on whether women should be allowed to get an abortion. Abortion by definition is the termination of human pregnancy. Over the years conservatives and liberals have argued over “pro-life” and “pro-choice” Conservatives believing that the fetus is a human being and automatically has rights and believes abortion is murder. On the other hand liberals believe that the fetus not yet a human until a certain point in the pregnancy. And while I see the conservatives point of view, I still find the liberal side of the debate more convincing.
According to the conservative perspective, when a woman has an abortion, she is killing her child in a cruel and gruesome way. They believe that no matter how old the fetus is, it is still a child who has rights and opportunities to change the world. They also believed that abortions almost always end in physical and psychological problems for the women. But studies show that surgical abortions almost never harm the cervix, unless a woman has had multiple abortions or has already had kids. On the other side of the spectrum, Liberals believe that the fetus is not an actual human until after the first semester of the pregnancy. They think that women shouldn’t have to give birth to a child they simply do not

I feel it should be between the mother and the father (if possible). I believe if the woman doesn’t want to have a child, she shouldn't need to. At the same time I do not believe it’s not fair for a woman to make that decision without the father of the baby. But at the same time if a woman is raped, she should be able to get an abortion because it is not fair to bring a child in that kind of situation. I think the conservative perspective can come off as selfish and ignorant because some individuals don’t even care why a woman would feel the way they do to get an abortion. I find the liberal side more realistic and

The most used argument is “my body, my choice.” This argument is that women should have the right to choose what they do with their bodies or to their bodies. Another argument is that they believe life does not begin until the fetus is viable. Liberals often claim that abortion supports the right to life. Many women don’t know how abortion affects their baby, they just look at it as a way to fix a mistake they may have made by becoming pregnant in the first place. I don’t believe that this is right at all. In 2012, unmarried women accounted for 85.3% of all abortions. (U.S. Abortion Statistics) To me that seems like just a lot of women who felt alone, and like they couldn’t take care of a baby on their own.…

"No woman wants an abortion as she wants an ice cream cone or a Porsche. She wants an abortion as an animal caught in a trap wants to gnaw off its own leg." -Frederica Mathewes-Green. A few common reason why women get an abortion are financial instability and negative impact on the mother’s mental health and/or career/education. While most Democrats believe that females have full control over if they want an abortion or not because if they do not abort, the child will be born and raised with multiple psychological issues, most Republicans argue that no female should get an abortion under any circumstances because every child’s life matters and if a female cannot take care of her child, she should give them up for foster care.…

The major argument with abortion is taking the life of an unborn human. Fetuses are not independent of themselves, more so they are very dependent on their carrier for nutrition, oxygen and other supplements. Therefore, the child will not be able to survive outside the womb by itself. Abortion is ending the pregnancy, not ending the life of the baby. Pro-life activists argue fetuses are able to feel pain.…

With pro-life taking the religious, moral, and ethical to influence the views and expectations to how abortion is viewed in the United States (Lopez). In Patrick Lee’s and Robert P. George’s, On The Wrong of Abortion, it is argued that abortions are objectively immoral. To support this conclusion, Lee and George state that, the fetus is a complete person in an immature phase of development, that the fetus has the potential to develop into a “person” and that abortions are intentional killings. Pro-Choice defenders argue that a human fetus is not a human being because it cannot live on its own, that they are not ‘people’, and that the mother has the executive decision of not wanting the child in her uterus. According to Patrick Lee in another one of his works, The Pro-Life Argument from Substantial Identity: A Defence. Bioethics , He claims that “What makes it wrong to kill you or me now would…

Abortion is essentially defined as the termination of pregnancy. This topic is very controversial as many women argue that it is their fundamental right to make decisions about their body. This topic can be viewed through two perspectives: pro-life and pro-choice. The stance that pro- life individuals take is that abortion is illegal since the fetus and the embryo are human beings, thus, have the right to live. A woman will have to decide for herself, based on what she believes in, how her life will be with those beliefs, and who she will integrate with her decision. Abortion is not a choice for everyone, however for Pro-choice supporters is the right decision whether it is for convenience or to a woman who was a rape victim and wanted to end the pregnancy. It seems like an easy fix to a life problem that you can 't solve by yourself. If you start thinking about what will happen if abortions were made illegal, consequently a number of women will become injured or sterile as a result of the procedure. People will think that giving the child up for adoption could be the solution but in most cases, this can be very emotionally damaging for the child 's mother.…

Some people are pro-abortion and some are very against it, so there is a wide variety of debates on whether abortion should be legal. I personally am pro-choice, and I think that if that’s what the person believes is the best than that is their choice. As a society, we don’t understand what it would be like to be in the position of a person that must make that huge decision, so why should we sit around and judge them for their own choices?
