Should Women Be Allowed In Combat Positions Essay

Bang, snap, pop! That is the sound of combat. Though some may think that women should be allowed to hold combat roles more than you might think are opposed. There are few separate living quarters, they have the potential to degrade a units combat effectiveness, and the decision will leave lots of children motherless. Women should not be allowed to hold combat positions. One reason that women should not be allowed into combat positions is the lack of separate living spaces. This is a problem because at some point young women(that is mainly who would hold combat positions) and young men will like each other. Ok that isn’t really a problem people might say. Picture this. Two soldiers, a young women and a young man, are together constantly. On base, off base, wherever. That will/does create an uncomfortable atmosphere for the other soldiers. That is bad because when you’re already stressed out from combat you don’t need additional stress when you finally get back to the barracks at your Forward Operating Base(FOB) or the barracks at Camp Leatherneck. Soldiers do not need that extra stress. Letting women into front line will do nothing but add that extra stress. These soldiers defend our country daily. They don’t deserve this extra stress. …show more content…

This degrades the units combat effectiveness because that changes that soldiers primary objective whatever it may be to protecting that woman. This can be very bad.Lets not let women into combat positions. Don’t make this happen. If you allow women into combat positions this will happen. It’s a when not an

“US military commanders repeatedly used women to go into battle spaces where men could not go” (Malrine par. 39). It’s understandable going into the situation thinking that you’re going to be all fist fight and one on one fighting, but when I think of the military no I think of guns and long range tactics to further protect our soldiers. I’m not sure many men would agree that men and women think alike, ladies, think back to the last time a guy said something that just made you mad but they didn’t seem to understand why you were mad. Imagine getting information from other countries. Women know how to talk to women.…

In Molly M. Ginty’s article “All Guts, No Glory”, she explores the issue of women serving in combat and the unfair reality that females have faced in the U.S. armed forces. In my opinion I strongly believe that women should be allowed to participate in combat. Many reasons why are if she signed up for this and has all the right training for it she should be allowed to go into war and fight for our country the same way men do. Women put their life at risk the same way males do getting shipped out to different countries protecting our country. In the article it says “one of the most dangerous jobs in the military today is driving a truck – a position that many women hold.”…

The women who argue to be able to serve in combat are not acknowledging the danger it puts themselves and the United States Military in. In the article,“Why Women Do Not Belong in the U.S Infantry.”, Serrano expresses that if they allowed women to serve in combat during her service in the military, anyone including herself would have jumped at the opportunity because of the novelty, excitement, and challenge; but, her views have changed with the experience and knowledge she has gained. Everyone needs to accept the fact that women are different, not only physically, but all around. It will only destroy the mission of the services (Para. 1). Also, allowing women to serve in infantry will cause enormous amounts of distractions.…

They are too sensitive at times, distracting, and they give birth to the children. These are only a few of the arguments used to justify why women would not be as useful in the army. Men use war to prove how masculine they are and by adding women to the equation it would make it harder for them to do that. Even women being nurses during war wasn’t acceptable at first, until all the male nurses were called to fight in war. (Paul Schue Lecture).…

Women in combat. It has recently sparked a debate on whether women should be allowed in combat or not. In my opinion, women shouldn’t be allowed in combat because they are too emotional to handle the long periods of time of being on tour, they aren’t physically built like men, and there would be too many problems with having men and women living together. Women are way too emotional to withstand being in combat. They wouldn’t be able to handle the 100+ degree temperatures, the stress of being away from their families for long periods of time, and they wouldn’t be able to handle being shot at all the time.…

In the passage “Policy: Women in combat” the author talks about reasons why women can not and should not be in combat positions. However, in the lines of these two things seemed to be blurred rather than concrete. The passage gave an example of articles that emphasize this belief. They gave the article that former senator of virginia wrote which was a clear outline of common reasons as to why women should not be in combat. Some of the reasons he listed is as follows: that the fact women can get pregnant is seen as a weakness, that physically and emotionally they are not strong enough, and finally that they would distract the soldiers from the task at hand.…

Combat Leadership Women currently make up more than 14% of the 1.4 million active military personnel but were not allowed to serve in over 230,000 combat positions; despite that they have increasingly served at the front lines (Goudreau, 2013). In 2013, the U.S. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta decided to allow women to serve in military combat roles, reversing a 1994 policy that excluded women from serving in combat units. This ensures that the best person is in a leadership position regardless of their sex. For instance, if the best sniper is a woman, it should be her in that role. On the contrary, some people believe that women are not physically built like men, attempts to integrate them may lead to lowered standards overall.…

Recently I read an editorial published on September 16th, 2015 in The New American, in which, the author argues that women can and should serve in the military, but not in combatant positions (McManus). Warfare and military are not simple problems. Numerous lives are at stake and spending has ripple effects throughout our economy. Personally, my brother is in the United States Air Force and I really wish he were not. As an electrical engineer he would be paid more out in the civilian world, and, more than that, he does not need a guilty conscience for an organization…

while men run and protect themselves with a ton of weight on women are not able to do the same. The second reason that a women is unfit for the front lines is that women should not be allowed in combat because they can have some really bad emotions while deployed and post deployed. women can suffer more severe post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Women who serve also run the risk of getting sexually assaulted while in the same living quarters as males can have ptsd worse. the final reason that women should not serve is privacy because women should not be allowed to serve on our front lines because they require their own privacy when you cannot accommodate that in war zone.…
