Imagine this your friend was caught stealing something from the store and you saw him. The police officer asks did you see him take anything. Now everybody lies it is a natural habit that we all have as human beings whether we like it or not. So lying is acceptable but with only one exception that we do not harm someone emotionally like their feelings.Lying can only be good for protecting lives as well as protect people in dangerous situations. For example in the article Honestly tell the truth by Barbara Ballinger, Brad Blanton states that “ We shouldn't manipulate the truth except for rare times- if you’re hiding Anne Frank in your attic because her life is in danger.” What i mean by this is that lying is not ok but only when …show more content…
Now if you definitely know that someone is lying to the Principal that he didn’t hurt that kid at all and that person who is getting blamed for doing that. Has been your friend for years know, what would you do. If you tell the truth not only are you doing the right thing but you’re helping out the person who got beat up. Even though you might’ve broke the relationship you had with that person you can start realizing that telling the truth could be bad, but at most times you are being very helpful because it lets people know who to rely on when they need an honest opinion. Lying can only good for one purpose and that is saving someone’s life or protecting people that can end up getting hurt. For example in Honestly Tell the Truth by Barbara Ballinger, Brad Blanton states that “We shouldn’t manipulate the truth except for rare times-if you’re hiding Anne Frank in your attic because her life is in danger.” This is important because at the end of the day when you lie you’re basically lying to yourself because you can’t let the truth out for whatever reason it is. Clearly you can agree with me that lying is the worst excuse for not telling

Is it ok to lie in any situation, or is it just wrong to lie at all ? In four articles that I read, it states a couple of things, for example, they talk about lying and if it's bad, is lying sometimes good, and is lying good. I believe lying is only good sometimes and it should only be used in white lies. I think a good time to lie is when you protect someone. One scenario of this is the story of Ann Frank.this is a good example because they were protecting Ann and her family by saying that there was nothing upstairs.…

In “The Ways We Lie” by Stephanie Ericsson she discusses and breaks down the activity of lying into different kinds of lies. Ericsson goes into great detail of about 10 of them, but there are many more. Some lies are for your peace of mind and maybe still bad for both parties, and some are for the better of someone else’s feelings. Ericsson believes that even if you feel you are perfect, nobody is and still tell lies no matter big or small, we do it and at times are unaware that it is considered a lie. In an interview with Robin Roberts, Robert Feldman, someone who has researched the subject of lies and deception for twenty plus years, said “We do it because it’s easy and because we get away with it and because it helps us in life” (Firestone). The human mind often assists in lying by helping the liar believe that by not telling the truth they are protecting someone else or themselves (Firestone). People are able to put their minds at ease when lying by convincing themselves that it is not that bad and that they are not doing anything wrong (Anonymous). It is not uncommon for people to only share information that they deem “safe” to tell and not tell everything; that is still a lie. It is a lie of omission, which at times is the worst kind of lie (Firestone).…
