Should We Have To Learn After High School

School is most likely one of the greatest obstacles we encounter within our existence. Thirteen crucial, yet gratifying years of difficult work we must overcome. Although the majority of students strive for that straight ‘A’ average, it seems as though there are no benefits to doing so besides more job opportunities after college. Why should we have to exert so much effort into our studies, when we are not rewarded by our schools for our exemplary performances and test scores? Honoring middle and high school pupils for their academic performance will allow them to become more concerned for their scores, as well as aid them to develop more passion for their assignments and tests. Students would feel as though they have a purpose for spending so much time taking notes, studying rigorously, and taking heaps of tests throughout the school year. One Stanford University experiment had researchers divide preschoolers into two separate groups: one that would receive gold sticker stars for their creative drawings, and one that would not receive any type of reward for their artwork. I believe this because students would have the proper skills and knowledge to prepare them better for the assessments ahead with proper studying and care for their work. This also provides more concern for the final averages in order to receive the award for the difficult work they have accomplished. One school, Bloom Township High School offered students twenty dollars for their above-average test scores, and with this reward test scores improved in a way that is similar to five to six months of improved performance.
