Dealing With Stress In Graduate School

Many times we find ourselves worrying about the future. Whether or not we are going to get into the graduate school we want, or if we are going to be able to go on a trip the following summer. We tend to put all of our energy into distressing ourselves about our upcoming plans and ambitions, instead of concentrating on our present day task. I am guilty of this trait, as I sit concentrating on situations I do not have the luxury of stressing over yet. From now on, I hope to seek a change as remind myself that everything happens for a reason, and sooner or later it will all fall into place. I hope to live in the moment as I try to not stress, take action, and enjoy the present.
Stress is feeling which is embedded into every college students head. We feel the stress from the start of the semester to the very last second of finals week. This stress is sometimes carried over as we wait for our pending exam scores. Stress is an overwhelming emotion that can deteriorate one’s body. I hope to overcome this weakness of mine by dealing with life one day at a time. For instance, instead of worrying about my final GPA at the end of a semester, I will start strong at the beginning of the semester by working for the grade I strive to receive one day at a time. Instead, I worry about futuristic struggles I may encounter. I hope to alter this by stressing less about my ending cumulative GPA and working towards current assignments. Secondly, I will improve this by taking action in my community to benefit others as well as myself. Also, I will take the time to enjoy my present moments in college as I know I will not get these years back. Through this class I have learned it is easy to forget to be mindful of your surroundings.
