You scream, I scream, we all scream for… VEGANISM! Okay, okay, no we don’t. Let me just start off by saying this is not another vegan advocacy. Trust me, there’s already one too many of those. I’m not here to convince you that not eating meat will somehow magically let you talk to animals or that if you do choose to eat meat you’ll be condemned to hell, although, some people are so ignorant and/or gullible they’d probably believe it. I agree, some vegans are so angry at the world sometimes I myself as a vegetarian think that a piece of bacon will fix that right up, because come on, it’s bacon. Nevertheless, I’m here to further educate you on what being vegan is NOT. Being a vegan is not being a tree hugging, yoga mat loving, and animal worshipping individual. Often people hold this uncanny notion that all vegans must be tree-hugging hippies. Objection! The last time I saw a hippie was Hyde on That’ 70’s Show. Now I’m not saying vegans aren’t environmentally enthusiastic, I’m just saying they aren’t exactly chaining themselves to trees. Being environmentally aware should be applied to everyone; it should not just be a tree-hugging prerequisite. In fact, the majority of vegans choose this lifestyle specifically to aid the earth. PETA reported that 86% of land in the Amazonian region is cleared solely for the purpose of pasteurization used for animal feed. Now isn’t that a happy story.
