Should innocent animals continue to be tested on?
Should innocent animals continue to be tested on? More than 100 million animals- (including mice, rats, frogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, monkeys, fish, and birds) are killed each year in the United Stated laboratories for biology lessons, medical training, curiosity-driven experimentation, and chemical, drug, food, and cosmetic testing. In Canada, an estimated 3.02 million animals are used in experiments, and 4.87 in the United Kingdom. Animals react to chemicals and products differently than us humans do. We should not test on animals because it does not prove to contribute to medical breakthroughs, it is cruel and inhumane, and it costs a large amount of money.

Maybe one day technology will have advanced so far as to render animal testing unnecessary, which would be ideal, but that day is simply not today. However we must not be wanton or ruthless in our testing of animals, just as animal test subjects are necessary so are the ethical and moral policies that regulate animal testing. Scientific advancement should never rely on what is blatantly cruel and scientists should always strive to do as little harm or cause as little distress as possible to their test subjects. Animal testing can lead to great advancements in medical technology and it is our job to make sure that we take the comfort and well being of the animals being tested into account. After all, to anthropomorphize for a moment, isn’t that the least we can do for the beings who are helping us treat all the diseases we are susceptible…

Life in the laboratory is the only life Colin has ever known. The Maltese-beagle mix lived at the University of Florida's kennels since he was only two months old. The tests on Colin resulted in Colin having all his teeth removed, getting into fights with other dogs, suffering from anxiety, and forcing him to wear special shirts for months at a time to help with the stress of living in small quarters. Colin was born vulnerable to a deadly disease that prevented his body from using the sugar stored in his body. For over four years, Colin was a victim to gene therapy to combat a disease that occurs in one in every 100,000 people.…

A possible concern is that over 100 million animals- mice, rats, frogs, dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, monkeys, fish, and birds- are used for research and experiments each year. These animals are forced to test poisoning for burning skin, toxicity testing, causing brain damage, and many other horrible tests. The innocent creatures are harmed and sometimes killed in the process. On the other hand, scientists are doing these many different types of tests to learn more about health problems that affect both humans and animals. Since animals are biologically related to humans, it makes them good research subjects.…

How would someone feel if they were confined in a cage only to experience pain, torture, and isolation for research purposes? We have been doing that to living things for countless years, except not to humans, but to animals instead. We torment animals using unethical experiments, with little to no success. In the USA, billions of dollars is spent every year to fund these horrendous experiments. The National Institute of Health (NIH) supports this cruelty, and funds about 40% of its annual budget as well.…

After studying multiple views on animal testing I have come to realize my personal view has now changed since the start of my research. Before undergoing heavy study into animal testing I believed that all types of animal testing should be stopped, but now I believe that the idea is very beneficial and should only be done when the rights of the animal are considered. In the coming years, hopefully, more regulations can be passed to ensure that all animal’s lives are protected during experimentation. Although most animals are treated with care and no pain is dealt to them when undergoing testing, it would be a lie if I stated no animals are harmed during the process. Animal testing is extremely useful in developing life-saving drugs and medicine.…
