Who knew using the restroom would result in a nationwide issue during the twenty first century. All due to the sky rocketing amount of individuals who escaped their shells and transformed as a transgender. Concerns quickly speculated the air on whether a transgender student should be identified for the gender they appear or the sex they were assigned at birth. Transgenders should have the privilege to use the bathroom based on their gender identity since they have the freedom to express their individuality, using the bathroom is a priority and they aren’t known to be a threat to society. Transgenders apply every ounce of effort to express their individuality. They sacrifice their life to get multiple surgeries, just so they can escape the body they were trapped in. For someone to define a transgender for their biological sex is utterly cruel. Unfortunately, some government officials assume one’s biological sex defines who they are. According to Amy Sneirson (Maines human rights commission executive director) she stated, “I know there is a lot of anxiety associated with this issue, but it seems to be based on fear rather than facts. Humans have essential needs such as eating, drinking, sleeping and using the bathroom. They should be allowed to go into a bathroom peacefully to do their business. Therefore, what’s the point of interfering with a transgenders rights. Those who are against transgenders, should visualize the daily life of a trans’.
