There are always children who feel impatient in their assigned gender but it’s not safe to support and agree with them in the first stages. As especially lately, we are seeing increasing number of gender nonconformity. it’s important to take transgender teens seriously because 41 percent of them in the U.S. have attempted suicide, based on studies of American foundation for suicide prevention, also in the article "Here’s What Parents of Transgender Kids Need to Know," Walt Heyer talks about transgender children and how they need the psychiatric treatment; otherwise, they will get affected with other disorders. when he says “Studies indicate that two-thirds of transgender suffer from multiple disorders at the same time or comorbidity. The top three disorders evidenced in transgender are depression (33 percent), specific phobia (20 percent) and adjustment disorder (15 percent). A child who states a desire to identify as the opposite sex has a two-thirds chance of having a co-existing disorder.” Certainly, indicates to the consequences of transgender teens could face and change the course of their life, if it didn 't end up with suicide the transgender teens of not being able to afford the consequences, lack of knowledge and disposition. Sex reassignment surgery is a long and complex procedure, includes dealing with medical specialists working together to achieve successful behavioral and medical outcomes. That considered as the hardest decision in the transgender teens life 's; in addition, cosmetic surgeries and amputations can be the final decisions. Heyer mentioned in his article when he says "gender-change surgery was never necessary. I detransitioned and returned to my male gender, like so many others do who regret changing genders." Clearly showing the remorse of taking a hasty decision without thinking of the consequences after gender reassignment surgery. Transgender teens could be disappointed with the results or the results do not fit their expectations also, the expenses of the surgeries can play a role in making the process harder than expected.
