Should Transgender People Be Allowed To Serve In The Military

On July 26, 2017, President Donald Trump restored a ban saying that transgender individuals will not be able to serve in the U.S. military. Now the ban that Trump restored was the ban that Obama ended in 2016. Many people are not agreeing with the decision that he has made, making an uproar arise on the conflict. However, there are people that are agreeing saying that he did it for the best of the army and it was because of the health cost in the military. I do not agree because they are losing people who will serve, gender should not matter, and he announced it when no one knew it was going to happen.
If the military took out the transgender individuals who are serving, then there would be a loss of soldier who are fighting. With soldiers getting sick and others who have to take a leave, they would be adding a bunch of people who are not allowed to serve because they are transgender. “I think that soldiers are anything but a burden. I think they're people who are sacrificing their bodies.” (Shafer). The military would be losing people who are sacrificing themselves. Gender should not matter because those people who are fighting in order to keep the country safe are putting their lives at risk. “‘There is no reason to force service members who are able to fight, train, and deploy to leave the military — regardless of their gender identity.’” (Crunden). In the quote that was stated, transgender people who willingly trained should not just be forced to leave because of their gender.
