This is just like in the book when Scouts teacher did not like her learning things and being ahead of the class. “Now tell your father not to teach you any more. It’s best to begin reading with a fresh mind. You tell him I’ll take ever from here and try to undo the damage-”, Scouts teacher told her (23). Although teachers wanted everyone to be on the exact same page in that time period teachers now encourage students to go ahead and like to see us excelling in knowledge. Students that are older and read this may just need a guided review instead of being told not to read it. In some of the comments to the article they said that teachers are having 8th and 9th graders read this book. I disagree with that since it is a little harder of a read in general, so I think upper high school students should be reading this; not just adults. To conclude, the reasons of why teachers should or shouldn’t teach To Kill a Mockingbird is a matter of everyone’s opinions. In mine, I thought it was a good book teaching and showing moral education and the ways of our countries earlier years. To Kill a Mockingbird should be taught in high school and is a great book that everyone should read at a higher age in order to give themselves a chance to learn new
