Should there be restrictions on freedom of speech? In the year 2016, many voters have found themselves undecided and discontented between the two candidates, Hilary Clinton and Donald Trump. Some people have perceived some of Donald Trump’s remarks of being a racist and a sexist. Therefore, the people believe that Donald trump actions were out of line and should not be said; however, others disagree and encourage him. Why does society find it necessary to restrict the freedom of speech? Shouldn’t freedom of speech be unlimited for various reasons; everyone is different, the people have the power, and become responsible.

In the First amendment states, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of region, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government of a redness of grievances” (Madison). The first Amendment guarantees each person the freedom of expression by prohibiting congress by allowing the press or the rights of individuals to speak freely. That being said, people should be allowed to speak freely when it comes to their political view, whether the people are against it or not.

Some people argue that freedom of speech should only be allowed to a certain extent; however, everyone is different. Everyone has his or her own opinions, belief and thoughts that don’t coincide with other people’s opinions. When it comes to…
