The United Nations is unproductive seeing as it does not, do one thing it promises to do on their website. Their first claim on their website is that they help to maintain International Peace. In Rwanda in 1994 the United Nations promised to protect the people of Rwanda. They did not uphold this promise, they removed 1,400 of their soldiers from Rwanda even though they knew there would be a mass genocide that they could have prevented, but they chose not to (Henderson). Another example of them being ineffective is, they claim to maintain and protect human rights for all people. Ordinarily, a program like this would work well and be a good idea, but in the United Nations case it does not do anything for any of the countries involved with it. The first example of this is America. We have 1.3 million active soldiers, this is 13 times more than the United Nations soldiers. We do not need to United Nations here in America because we are capable of defending ourselves. The second example is the United Kingdom, they have their own welfare systems put in place because the United Nations did nothing to help them.
