The overall story is one I have heard multiple times since it is so ingrained in pop culture. I was introduced to it in a Looney Tunes cartoon that my family still quote to this day. It seems that everyone knows the story; they may not know the darkness of the original, but the basic story has barely changed. Personally speaking, finally reading the original has not really changed my view of the story in the slightest; I still think that it has a good overall message of ‘beware of strangers’. Despite this fact, I still think that the tale is silly and a bit crazy with the ridiculousness of the whole thing.
