Should The Lakers Stay The Best?

¨If I had an opportunity to hand-pick a team that I wanted to play in the NBA Finals, it would probably be the Lakers.¨ Scottie Pippen. While there are many other teams with histories rich with achievements, the Lakers are the best because they have been consistent throughout history all the way up until these past 5 years. Fans and athletes throughout the league all know that the Lakers are and have always been a dominant force to be reckoned with. Although there are many other great franchises like the Celtics or the Bulls in the NBA, it is evident that the Lakers are the best franchise in NBA history because they have the most playoff appearances, the second most championships, and twenty-three players in the Hall of Fame.

The Lakers have been to the most NBA Finals game than any other team in the league’s history, with thirty one appearances. (Basketball References). This indicates that the Lakers are a commanding power when it comes to the championship for the NBA and it also shows that they have out performed any other team in NBA history to get to the Finals. This is of significance because there aren’t any other teams that can provide a valid argument against this fact because the closest team is ten appearances back from the Lakers number of appearances in the Finals. In addition, the Lakers have the second most championship wins with sixteen wins, while the Celtics hold the record of seventeen, only one more than the Lakers. (Basketball References). This expresses that the Lakers are better than most teams when it comes to winning the championship series, while only being one win away from tying the most championships in a franchise. This is fundamental because it shows that the Lakers are a winning team, and even if they don’t have the most wins they come in a very close second to the Celtics. There are many other teams that could be considered to be the best franchise, for instance the Celtics because they have the most championship wins, but the Lakers have only one less win than them and have been to the championships more than any other team including the
