The cost of books is making numerous college students to find other means of paying for required materials. Students are already stressed about paying their tuition and then cost of books should not be another reason why they need another loan added to their debt. Textbooks have increased significantly over the years until now is getting harder for students to purchase books. The prices of textbooks should be affordable for all students no matter their financial situation. Students cannot afford the required textbook each semester needed for their enrolled classes. Those who qualify for financial aid use their entire money on books alone since the prices have increased to about $400 dollars each book. However, for those who don’t receive any financial aid this is a major problem since they would need to pay out of pocket. In private institutions the books are included in their tuition, but is still not enough in addition must take out a loan just for books alone. Schools now offer textbook vouchers that give students a certain amount towards their textbook to help a bit with the cost. Now there are several ways students can save money, buy making copies of reserved books, instructors have reserved or by getting an E-text book for half the price of a printed book. Professors should not say it’s a requirement for students to purchase the books if they know perfectly that the book is not as important has the lectures in class or that it will not be used enough and should require them to make copies from the book. Universities and institutions should consider purchasing outdated books from the students at any time, so that the student does not feel like they are stuck with them, but it will benefit the books store and others who cannot afford the new
