Bernie Sanders is one of the two Democratic candidates running for President of United States in 2016. Sanders has been described by many media outlets and supporters as a “man of the people” due to his stance on several controversial issues. Not only is his campaign funded by millions of small campaign contributions instead of Super PACs (political action committees) but his stance on various issues has not changed in all the years that he has been politically involved. One of platforms that he is running on and is a big proponent of is his College for All Act. In addition to making tuition free for college students, the College for All Act proposes to cut student loan interest rates and stop the federal government from making a profit from student loans, according to the Bernie Sanders website. I believe that the College for All Act is possible and free tuition for college students can work. In today’s society it has become a social norm and an enormous burden for people to go to college and get a job to then pay for your college education. With increasing costs and no guarantee of a job after graduation, it has become harder for students to pay for their education. According to the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), “Between 2002–03 and 2012–13, prices for undergraduate tuition, room, and board at public institutions rose 39 percent, and prices at private nonprofit institutions rose 27 percent.” Not only is there a want for free tuition but there is also a…
