My son liked Tom Swift adventures, and going back to my childhood I loved the Nancy Drew adventures.
I remember when all the children fell in love with Harry Potter, and a whole generation of children picked up books and read! Some of the teachers and parents loved those books, and then some of the parents decided that they were evil, and from Satan, and I realized the world hadn’t changed quite enough yet. The truth is they told very well what the world was like during that time, and yes, the world was more racist than it is now. Mark Twain's books were very popular when I was young, even part of required reading in my school. Nowadays, some schools do not have them available, and even others have had them banned.
I’m totally against any kind of racism, and there are many heads to that beasts; however, I think that books should be readable even when there are about something controversial, and that a better course of action would be that those issues should be discussed. To just ban a book seems wrong to me. Yet, I do think that there should be some age appropriateness for some things. But, that is because I still like to think that innocence should be preserved for a little while longer in a child’s life if
