Arizona State University Core Classes: Case Study

Improved Essays
Purpose:

The purpose of this proposal is to request the Arizona State University to provide more core classes at the West campus.

Summary:

The problems that I found is the W.P. Carey School of Business does not provide enough core class for their students. According to the ASU record in 2015, the W.P. Carey had 12,009 undergraduate students on their campus. With this amount of student, the school should have more classes available for them to enroll. However, some of the core classes are not provided in all campus. One of them is the Organizational Behavior class. The school only provides this class at Tempe and it only provide 3 different sections that have only 40 seats available per section for the student. It also provides 1 online

The school only provides this class at Tempe and it had only provided 3 different sections that have only 40 seats available per section for the student. It also provides one online class with 35 seats available (ASU catalog). The morning class and the online class are the first to fill up. So, it left with the with 2 more classes that run from 4:50PM to 7:35PM. Those students from the West campus would need to wait for the next shuttle that would arrive at 8:00PM and ride that shuttle for another one hour before they will be arrived at the West campus around 9PM. It is getting late, but the student also need to go home and study for their class. This could make them have less sleeping time that could affect their …show more content…
They will have to find a trend of their graduation rate; is it stable, increase or decrease over time. Next, the school will have to research about the graduation rate of other universities. Then, compare the rate of ASU to the rates of other universities and find the differences. This research and comparison will help ASU understand their own performance compare to others. So, the graduation rate is a very good tool to measure performance of the

If one would go around and ask the constituents of College of Dupage about their biggest issue on campus some would complain about the cafeteria food chains, the educational policies but the one complaint you would hear the most would be parking. Every year there are about 28,000 students who enroll, meaning they all attend by either riding the bus or driving. Majority of them drive, considering the fact that they are also new drivers who enjoy their newfound freedom. Since that is the case most students can't find parking, therefore they look to other options such as taking the bus, carpooling, or even scheduling classes later on in the day. Most would say the best solution would be to build a bigger parking lot or parking garage, which is…

Year after year, students at West Islip High School are absolutely distraught when they get their schedules in the summer. This year, as well as previous years, many students had to go to their guidance counselor and change things before the school year even started! Still, others waited until the first day, or even the first week before requesting changes. Some students reported having multiple gym and lunch periods, while others had classes in their schedule that were supposed to be every day, but they only had these classes every other day, making it nearly impossible for them to keep up with their peers. These students had to leave these classes, no matter if they liked the class or not.…

COMM 200 Midterm Asha McWilliams 1. To begin, I would like to make clear that I side with Motley’s perspective. First, Motley would argue that there must be both a sender and receiver present in order to facilitate communication. Furthermore, according to Motley, a source must intentionally send a message in order for communication to occur. Therefore, Motley takes a source-oriented perspective because he argues that communication cannot be facilitated without intent on behalf of the sender.…

Students attending college are now exposed to the real world of being responsible for their attendance in classes. College life is more diverse than high school, because students now have the ability to make their own life choices and College students have more freedom than high school students do. Being able to take the classes they want, need, and also paying for their own courses. College students have to be committed to do well in their classes, but also have their own decision making if they want to be present to class or not. Now that students know they have all the freedom they want, some students think they don’t necessarily have to show up to class since they are paying for it.…

It is impossible to say whether the lack of textbooks was the symptom or the cause of the apathy towards the concessions of the two codes, but certain is that there were serious problems with producing learning material which in turn must have posed acute problems for the teaching of the language. However, it would be wrong to deduce from the information above that the codes of 1890 and 1893 were a complete failure. In some areas, newspaper articles show that the new possibilities offered by the codes were eagerly accepted and not dismissed by reluctant school boards or parents. Writing 'to encourage the spread of Welsh teaching among English youths resident in Wales', John Hobson Matthews said he had been teaching Welsh at St Joseph's School…

When looking at the weaknesses of Remington College, the first weakness that must be evaluated is the small classroom size that offers its students the one on one teacher student connection as they move to on-line classes room settings. The reason that I say this is a weakness is that his connection could be lost in the on-line classroom environment leaving students to feel that the organization and its leadership is not connected with them as students (McHenry & McCall, 2014). The lack of connection in the school’s leadership is one that needs to be addressed by the direction as the program grows and focus on the needs of the students and staff (Werry, 2002). The leadership of the organization must ensure that the concerns of the students…

Also, part of the reason why students don't get enough sleep is because they are up late studying. You can't expect students to come home from school, study, eat dinner, do their homework and then go to bed right away. Teenagers need to watch TV, talk to their friends, and run errands after school. We aren't machines; we need fun in our lives. With an extra hour of sleep, we will be refreshed and ready to learn for our first couple of classes.…

One problem that I have found a solution to is growing the amount of students from diverse backgrounds to take Advance Placement courses. Around twenty-six percent of my school consist of minorities; however, only two percent of those minorities participate in AP courses. I talked to some of my peers who I felt we able to handle the rigorous course load and explained to them how taking these classes will be beneficial. Many of those students will be first-generation college students and I knew that colleges would like to classes that will be challenging.…

Furthermore, while earlier start times may encourage adolescents to be responsible for managing their time to get ready and be on time for school, teens would create poor sleep habits as they develop anxiety and stress from being required to wake up early. Furthermore, even if they would have to face trying to manage their extracurricular activities, students would be able to sleep earlier and wake up the next morning to finish school responsibilities while gaining concentration from meeting the recommended hours of sleep. Without a doubt, if schools change their starting times later, one major leap is taken to ensure students’ and teachers’ sleep needs are met so that they are able to sleep and function during the school…

The study of class attendance in correlation with student grades was also statistically significant in determining the level of student performance. The research demonstrated the lack of attendance was significant in explaining why a student would receive a D for a course grade rather than an A, B, or C.(Chan) Statistics showed that regular attendance was a significant determinant in minimizing a student’s chance of getting a D or an F.(Chan) The same data was used to determine the relative impact of each absence in the student’s final grade for a particular course. Results showed absence from a class was statistically significant in lowering the grade of the typical student.…
