According to one’s view, a revolution is “the usually violent attempt by many people to end the rule of one government and start a new one”. In the American revolution, the patriots fought, risking their lives to gain independence from Britain, who violated their rights. Furthermore, they wanted to create a new nation. There were changes in the social, political, and economic part of the American life at this time. Social change did happen because people began to question many things about their life. For example, people in the North began to question slavery and some even got rid of their slaves. After the American Revolution, political change was the biggest and the most important change. The American colonies broke away from Britain and they went from a monarchy to being a republic. Everyone was now equal and anyone could participate in the government. The government wanted to make better rights for everyone, laws to protect certain things and to get a better representation for the country. There wasn’t that of a big change economically during this time. Merchants were able to sell what they wanted without regulations from Great Britain. People could purchase products from anywhere in America without paying an outrageous tax from an unwanted king.
