Introduction
An image that someone is driving down Main Street and someone walks out in the street and you have to slam on the brakes. This is a serious problem in the world today because people text and walk. Texting can be dangerous; because there are more than two accidents happen because of walking and texting. Some people think that walking and texting should not be banned because they think they can take care of themselves. Texting and walking should be banned because texting and walking can be dangerous ; there has been more than one of the texting and walking accidents.

Why is Texting and Walking Dangerous? People are getting hit by cars, “in 2014 a 14 - year - old was seriously injured after stepping off a bridge while on his phone” (Scholastic Scope). This is one reason why texting and walking can be dangerous because if he was not on his phone he would not

According to federal highway fatalities, “there were 5,987 pedestrians fatalities in 2016” - that is the highest number since 1990 (Head up, phone down). In fact, “this represents an increase of 9.5 percent over the 2015 totals” (Abc7). These accidents are because of people being on their phones while texting. This is a lot of people in one year, if they were not on their phones we could bring that number down. We could also keep people safer, if they weren’t on their phone, people could walk and not get hit. States are starting to fine people who are walking and texting on the streets. “The fines can cost from $15 to $99 dollars for staring at their phones while crossing a crosswalk”(¨Should texting and walking be banned¨). These are fines are because their have been so many fatalities, they had to start fining people because they thought it would slow down these fatalities, and it has slowed down some of the problems. These two examples are just 2 of many examples of walking and texting
