Most teens in prison will walk out with little or no education and no knowledge of what the world had become. That in its self is scary. You have broken kids that are going to be lost in the new world that was their home. “Normal teens are experiencing a wildfire of tissue loss in their brains.” (Thompson Paul) they are ill equipped to handle the psychological damage that prison causes for adult much less what it does to teens. The brain of a teenager is difficult to understand and putting that into an environment like prison without any hope for parole. That can diminish the way a teens mind looks at life. They can lose hope for a better life for themselves. It was wrong but they did what they thought was best for them to get out of their big underlining factor. “Juveniles accounted for 16% percent of all violent crime arrests and 32% of all property crime arrests in 1999. They accounted for 54% of all arson arrests, 42% of vandalism arrests, 31% of larceny-theft arrests, and 33% of burglary arrests.”(pbs) These kids are from low income homes, have mental disorsers, have abusive people in their life, and people who have their parents coddle them too much. This can be the fault of the parents or even the teens fault but they can’t find themselves a way to walk away so they resort to extream surcumstances. If they had help or if they trusted enough to get help then they could have walked away from their situations. Yet sadly little do ask and recive help. But some like William Golding the author of “Lord of the flies” belives society has a part in this violent cycle “young male maim and torture is somehow connected to his long-forgotten beginning as a hunter and killer- a beginning that is very different from the females hearth.” (Why boys …) This explains the comman knowledge that boys seamed to be more attracted to violence because society brings that out in people. They give the idea that people in gangs or groups like that are welcoming and that they have your back and are better at
