Remember when you had to wake up every morning at 6am so that you would be at work by 8. Well you 're not the only one. Most teens in America arrive school before 8:30 a.m. and that does not take into consideration the time it takes to wake up in the morning. On average, teens does not meet the recommended amount of sleep every night. Even though some people believe that teens should go to school early(before 8am), I strongly believe that teenagers should not go to school early because it negatively affects their mental thought-processes, their physical health, and later start times would benefit schools. One reason they argue schools because parents work. According to the article: What Is The Advantage Of Having School Start Early”parents might find that an early start works better with their schedules”. However, this view seems convincing at first but it disrupts mental growth for a teen and hinders growing capability. Another thing they believe why schools should continue starting early is that it provides more time for extracurricular activities after school. From the article: Extracurricular Activities,”Children in extracurricular activities excel in academic performance more often than children who do not”. What this argument overlooks is with teens waking up so early it hinders growth, which will make it harder for them to attend the extracurricular activities. The final reason most people believe school should start early is that it 's cheaper for transportation. According to the Natural Sleep Foundation,”Most school districts have a delicately balanced bus transportation system designed to run efficiently and inexpensively as possible, any change in the school schedule can have a severe impact”. This argument does not take account that it 's increasing academic performance even if it costs

If students start earlier then they get to leave earlier (classroom.synonym.com). This opinion is false because even if school will still begin at the same time as usual and kids will still be tired. Even if school did start earlier it would not be worth it for kids and teenagers because they need more sleep, which would mean they would need to go to bed earlier in the evening to get in a full eight hours. With sports, homework and other activities it is not possible for kids to go to bed early enough to get up in the morning. This would only be more harmful, even if it meant getting to leave school earlier.…

Students report getting less sleep than they need from about the age of 13 years” ( Onyper et al). A very large portion of students need to wake up at 6:30 to be at school on time, which means in order to get enough sleep, the teen would have to be asleep by 9 p.m. As a result of the circadian clock in teenagers’ brains, it’s almost not possible for adolescents to be asleep that early. The U.S. Secretary of Education, Arne Duncan, even thinks that schools should adopt later start times (Blad). With all of this evidence that schools start too early there are still very few schools that begin the school day after 8:30 a.m. “Forty-two states reported that 75%-100% of their public schools had…

No matter how much sleep I get 8,9, and even 10 hours of sleep, waking up early has been a challenge. Although science says that students need 8-10 sleep hours of sleep to be able to function fully it doesn’t always mean that they will be able to when they do get enough. Sometimes the problem isn’t the amount of sleep but the time you are getting up. I have tried everything from coffee to the silly tips you can find on YouTube, but nothing has given me that burst of energy to be able to stay awake and focused. Now I wake up for school at about 6:45AM.…

Have you ever been late to school because you slept in. Well I have done that because I did not go to bed at the right time. Mostly everyone has a time to be in bed, because of school in the morning and some kids don’t follow that rule which the students should. The students should follow that rule because they have school in the morning and they have to be there early. I believe that the time of school should stay the same because it would cost more money, you wouldn't have problems if you went to bed earlier, and it would disrupt after-school activities if we went later.…
