I believe that those who committed a crime as a teen should be able to have parole. While I can understand the argument that teens who have murdered have stripped others of their life and should therefore be stripped of their own freedom and life, I lean more towards the science behind it all. Teens have highly underdeveloped brains. Their frontal lobes -in charge of decision making - are still growing. Thus, when faced with stressful situations and hormones rushing through the body, they may make atrocious decisions.…

I don’t think juveniles should be placed in adult prison. It causes to many problems for younger kids to be surrounded by negative influences while they are still developing mentally and starting to mature. It causes problems with depression and making them think that some behavior is acceptable in a society outside of the prison when it isn’t. The depression leads to acting out which causes disciplinary actions that are to serve in prison than they would be in a juvenile facility.…

This indicates that anyone under twenty five does not take responsibility for their actions. When it comes to being guilty or not guilty not everyone does take responsibility but they still get their punishment. No matter the age of a individual they should be tried as an adult and have to take responsibility for their own actions whether they want to or not. A juvenile could be given a short sentence and/or just probation and have the idea in their head that they can get away with a crime. The next crime they commit can be far worse and result in harming another individual in…

All eyes were glued to the judge as he said the words that would change the juvenile’s life forever. He was being sentenced to life in prison as a part of a crime he committed with his friends. Many young adolescents some as young as 9 , are being forced to go to prison for long periods of time on an almost daily basis. Minor’s should not be allowed to be tried as adults and to be sentenced to life in prison, as an adult environment would be to brutal for them to cope with. Juveniles and Life Sentences Do juveniles deserve mandatory life in prison for their crimes or should they have the opportunity to receive a second chance? In 2012, the Supreme Court ruled that mandatory life sentences for any crime are now illegal to give to juveniles meaning that juveniles are no longer allowed to serve mandatory life sentences in prison. This ruling is agreeable because juveniles are not fully developed, and it is unfair for juveniles to serve mandatory life sentences. Juveniles do not deserve life sentences because the teenage brain is not fully developed.…

Juveniles should not be tried as adults for it is wrong to hold adolescents, under the legal age, to adult standards. If children do not even receive the same rights as adults in the first place, it makes no sense to try them in adult court. These juveniles should have the opportunity to be rehabilitated in a positive manner, for they tend to come from troubled households and violent neighborhoods. In over half of the cases these troubled kids don’t know any different way than a life of crime when surrounded by both social and environmental factors that influence their delinquent actions. One must commemorate that juveniles are mentally underdeveloped, and still have time to innovate if their issues are dealt with precisely and accurately.…

The decision of juveniles being tried as adults in the world of criminal justice has usually been an object of controversy. Some agree that an adolescent who commits a serious crime like murder deserves to be penalized exactly like an adult; while others declare that a minor should not face the same punishment as an adult. However, no matter how severe or appalling a crime may be, juveniles should not be tried as adults; the reason being that everyone should be granted the chance to learn from their mistakes. Juveniles should not be punished as adults, simply because they biologically distinct from adults. Teenagers are the midsection between children and adults.…
