Should Teachers Be Paid More?

Why should teachers be paid more? I think the main reason why is because teachers do so much, and teachers shape our society, government, and pretty much everything! In order to keep our society running, our teachers should have higher salaries. The larger the pay means more qualified teachers and better results in students. Teachers are responsible for preparing the next generation, right? It is true that teachers are responsible for this, but 20% of teachers must have second jobs! I personally think that is is not okay for teachers to work a second job because they are worth so much more. If you were shaping the next generation, wouldn't you want more than $55,ooo.oo per year?
