Should teachers be allowed to conceal and carry ?

The Second Amendment. which concerns the right to bear arms, is always an issue. but should teachers be allowed to carry guns.
There is a lot of debate on the subject of teachers being able to have conceal and carry permits and carrying on school property.

A pro of teachers being allowed to conceal and carry is it provides an extra level of security and reassurance.
A con of this is if a kid manages to get the teachers firearm what are their intentions are and what they are planing. A con is how much training the teachers may have its not as much as a cop or military personnel therefore they may not know what to do in different situations
PRO.”Concealed handguns deter crime. States that implemented "shall-issue" concealed carry laws reduced murders by 8.5%, rapes by 5%, aggravated assaults by 7%, and robbery by 3%, according to a 2000 analysis of FBI crime data by economist and political commentator John R. Lott Jr., PhD. Lott.”

My stance on the subject is. I believe that teachers should be allowed to conceal and carry because it allows them to stand up to potential threats when they arise.

Whether or not teachers should be armed is rather disputable, with a lot of information to support both sides. People argue that school teachers should be armed with a firearm for defense purposes and to potentially save their own lives as well as students' lives in the event of a school shooting. They believe that with the proper training and authority, this change in schools could save many lives. Others believe that arming teachers would create more danger in schools and instead of decreasing the number of deaths due to school shootings, that number would rise. They think that not only should firearms not be brought into schools because of its distraction to education, but that teachers in possession of a firearm would create accidental…

The dangers associated with allowing teachers to have guns on the property creates “diminished safety for students, faculty, staff, and visitors” (The Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence, 2000, p.2). The most prominent concerns reasonably revolve around both “mental illness… and the misuse of firearms” (Malcolm, 2016, p. 1). Higher risk levels of injuries and fatalities occur when firearms are used improperly, and a vast number of people are uneducated on the proper handling of defense weapons. Perhaps a teacher’s mental instability could be unleashed on an irritating student by an easily accessed bullet rather than a simple scolding. The opposing side is very skeptical of the sanity and morals of teachers and their possession of guns in the classroom.…

The pros of carrying a concealed handgun can be quite a few. A person is less likely to attack someone who they believe is armed and carrying a concealed handgun could also help stop a public shooting spree. People also feel safer and more protected and that would especially be the case for students who have classes at night. However, permitting concealed handguns would also raise more panic for the non-carrying students than reduce it. If an individual is not careful enough their gun could go off in the middle of class and cause an accidental injury or someone who does not responsibly carry their…

Teachers can misuse the weapon and potentially put a students life in danger. Schools should be considering hiring qualified police officers that have been trained to protect people instead of teachers who will have little experience. Students can also get access to the weapons which will be promoting violence. So if these situations happen, arming teachers can be a harmful way to protect a school. Arming teachers is not a suitable way to protect schools because many things can go wrong and students can get hurt.…

The majority of new policies are met with a mixture of praise and criticism. However, it would be a challenge to find any teacher who does not believe it is his or her responsibility to protect the students. Allowing teachers to be armed in the classroom would increase the likelihood of everyone surviving if an active shooter enters the room because it would provide additional protection if the teachers are properly trained. Knowing any of us could be armed by making this policy public knowledge could make the possibility of that shooter entering the building even less likely. Hopefully no school will ever need to evaluate if this was the right decision or not, but in case that day does come, it would be better to determine the effectiveness of allowing teachers to be armed than having to determine how to attend a dozen students’ funerals or leaving my family to plan…

There are many benefits of teachers being able to carry guns on school property. A gun on school property can deter a shooter by letting them know they won’t be the only person with a gun and people at this school are trained on how to properly use them in stressful situations. Teachers having guns also allows for faster response, this is a major benefit because now school personal do not have to wait to be “saved”. Lastly students and family will feel safer if active shooter situations arise, knowing they can be protected. Feeling safe and secure will allow staff and students the ability to stay calmer during the experience.…
