Students come from many different backgrounds that should be respected. I think that the economic stress that families suffer is most damaging to children. Parental relationships may become tensed. The teacher can help the child by helping them discovered and developing their talents. Schools can introduce programs against bullying and mentoring. In addition, schools can promote social activates to increase peer contacts. It would also help if there were programs that increase parent involvement.

Discriminatory practices can make impede learning at high levels by lower academic courses that do not give students the “skills and knowledge necessary to enter college” (p. 212). I will try to get to know more about my students and check my self to see if I would have acted different with the students, I have to understand why. Also, I can ask a “colleague to periodically observe…(my) interactions with students and parent to provide a more objective review of my treatment of students” (p.212).
