I believe that schools only magnify the punishments for those without badges to encourage students to wear their badges everyday. For example, the principal of Euclid has expressed the consequences of not wearing your badge or being caught without it. In 2013, 5.2% of 9-12th grade youth were reported to be carrying a weapon of some sort to school. 6.9% were reported to be injured by these weapons that were brought to school. Although these percentages may seem low you have to consider the fact that these acts of violence took place in schools. IDs are a way to prevent someone that means harm from wandering the school and carrying out their plans.
In conclusion, as a student of Euclid High School, I believe that IDs are a necessity to provide a more effective form of security. I hope you all see that ID badges can save lives. They not only prevent acts of violence but, they make administrators feel confident that all students are accounted for and are safe.
