Teachers are the ones who sees the potential in their students. They know what to do to make this potential blossom. Also, they see students who just need a little push and can give that to them to make them succeed. Teachers often become mentors when a student is trying to figure out the new world of college. There is nothing like a teacher seeing greatness and encouraging to make the student push even harder because they know that someone believes in them. Teachers also know how to give the advice a student needs to hear to know that they can do this. Teachers were once in the students’ position; the parents were not necessarily. Just about every student has that one teacher that was a huge part of their life and made such an impact on how they continued their education.
Other students and friends can help as well. Friends who are older and have already went down this path will have valuable advice. They know the fears, the worries, and know how to navigate through it. They become mentors. If the students have questions about things like applications, possible majors, schools, books, types of classes to take, and advice in general, those who have already gone through the process will understand and be able to help them through it with less fear than if they were going in all by themselves
