The burden of fees and loans is indubitably financially overwhelming for students, and their families. As Jeff Lagerquist of Financial Post wrote “The average university student leaves campus with close to $28,000 in debt, and takes an average of 14 years to pay it off based on an average starting salary of $39,523” (Student debt: Average payback takes 14 years). How are students supposed to pay for university? They have little to no source of income while in school, and some come from low income families. For the reason, Canadian students will have the freedom to pursue various educational paths, without having the financial and mental burden of university expenses. Moreover, they will be able to attend regardless of their financial situation, and leave with an education which can propel their financial situation. Hopefully this dream becomes realized before I start looking for my piggy bank. But, should I be paying for education? If so, does it not make universities a privilege for the rich, rather than a right for all? I think
