School uniforms are a popular fuss that many people have discussed over the years to determine whether students should wear them in public school systems across America. There are many supporters of school uniforms, but there are plenty of people that are against the idea of school uniforms. Students are often against school uniforms as well as many teachers and many parents. School uniforms restrict students from expressing their individuality, they are a financial burden to underprivileged families, they can cause controversy, and they can result in a bad reputation for the school system.
School uniforms are a way of stifling students creativity and expression. Without uniforms, students are able to pick out their own clothes and express who they are as an individual. The article “Should Students Have to Wear School Uniforms?” states that “clothing choices are a crucial form of self-expression.” When taking away a student's right to pick out their own clothes in the morning, it also takes away their individuality.
