Only a few short weeks ago a student at Georgia Southern. A student called campus police and reported that she had been raped and needed help. Campus police arrive and no arrest was made as the 21 year old man who had committed the crime is marked as a suspect. There were witnesses to validate the story so all that was left was to find the perpetrator right?
The police then redirected their attention to the victim who had some alcohol to drink that night. At the end of the say the bad guy gets away (as far as we know) and the victim gets a strike for being under the influence on campus. All she wanted was some help and she gets penalized. Now I know that she did make a mistake and shouldn't have been drinking on campus but, there should be a point where a small problem like that should be overlooked for the greater good of a situation. …show more content…
There should be a way where if there is actually a problem students don’t get penalized because what incentive does a student have in a situation like that to even call for help in the first
