The Department of Education recently released a memo admitting that repayment rates on student loans have been grossly exaggerated. Data from 99.8% of schools across the country has been manipulated to cover up growing problems with the $1.3 trillion in outstanding student loans. New calculations show that more than half of all borrowers from 1,000 different institutions have defaulted on or not paid back a single dollar of their loans over the last seven years. This comes in stark contrast to previous claims and should call into question any statistics provided by government agencies.…

In a perfect world, students would not have to pay for their education. They would continue their studies for the pure satisfaction of learning, and not have to worry about how much debt they’re in, or if the profession they are pursuing will allow them to be able to payback their loans in a decent amount of time. Ideally, the students would be able to hop right into their career without feeling too overwhelmed, but as we do not live in a perfect world, this is not the case, nor should it be. At first, the thought of free college sounds like a great idea, but as the idea is explored more, the flaws arise. If college was free, taxpayers would inevitably have to pay the bill, students wouldn’t gain life lessons of value and responsibility, and free college would potentially create economic consequences for those institutions…

Over 1.2 million students drop out of high school in the United States alone(dosomething.org). Most jobs in America now require applicants to have a minimum of a high school diploma. In an interview with Jeremiah Byrd, Larry Miller, a journalist for Philadelphia Tribune, Byrd stated that even though he was in the process of getting his GED, while applying for a position with McDonald's, they required that an applicant either be in high school or have a minimum of a high school diploma to be considered for a job (New America Media). I feel as though these citizens should have the opportunity to go back to school for free and obtain assistance in receiving a college degree. Most states have set the age limit to return to high school for a high school diploma at ages 19-22 (Civic Enterprises 2012).…

Students should study because they want to, not to be forced to. Its wrong to lure students into studying by using cash as it gives them an idea that money can somewhat “control the world” everything does revolve around money, Which is a sad truth that they don’t understand that money does control the world and them. Although this policy encourages the wrong things. Students may get so caught up in focusing on making more money that they assumed getting good grades is purely for the money and not for learning. As I stated, their parents always expect getting good grades and studying from them.…
