Why should students get homework when they have a life outside of school? This question is something a lot of people think about on a everyday basis. Some students drop out of high school. Most students want a good paying job after high school. Still many students will do their homework in order to succeed. Since many students have an after school job, may be involved in sports, and have chores and duties they are expected to do at home, teachers should not assign any homework to students. Most students live on a farm or out in the country therefore they have chores to do like feed the animals, and they should not get extra work for helping their family. For example, most students have a dog or a cat that they need to feed, but some of the more advance farms have cows and goats that the students would have to take care of, and that would take longer to do the students ' chores therefore the students would not have time to do their homework. Some students, at home, have to do dishes or laundry, and they should not get homework because they have other important things to do. For example, most houses have a dishwasher, but that does not fill itself, so students need to do the dishes, and that takes time. Students with duties at home should not get any homework because they are trying to help out their family on the land. For example, if a student only has one parent, the student needs to help out that parent by doing chores around the house. First of all, homework causes stress on students. We may as well just spend all day at school if we are having school at home anyways. Students should go to school, work on “school” work, then come home and not do “school” work at home. This would increase the productivity and attitudes of students. I, for one, would be in a much better mood concerning school if I knew that I didn’t have to look forward to coming home to more school work.…

Parents cannot have it both ways. Mr. Rauch spends a lot of time in his essay talking about how homework would fix the academic issues and bring the United States off the bottom of the list of surveyed countries. One thing that he does not mention is how to get students to do their homework in the first place. He does state that the schools should emphasize homework or…

In recent years, parents have began to wonder whether or not homework was beneficial to their children or not. After spending their entire day in school, children are usually given extra assignments to complete at home when they could be spending that crucial time with family. There are said to be both positive and negative aspects of this topic. The article I chose to analyze was “Rethinking Homework” by Alfie Kohn. This article talks about the so called pros and cons of homework.…

Homework is one more this that replays the idea of early stress for the teenager. Homework is something that should not be provided. High school students should have the liberty to go home for family and self-dedicated time just like the rest of the family members that no longer attend high school. Some teachers assigned homework and set due dates too soon for the amount of work provided with not…

Some students work for fun, and some work to pay for costs of living, and some students even need to work because they have families. Those students who work for fun most likely work less, and have more flexibility with doing school work. Those students who work to pay for bills, need to work more to be able to support themselves. The students that need to work more, typically have less time to do school work. Those students who need to work full-time to support their families don’t have very much time to do school work.…

By giving homework to students, they become more successful. The most common idea is that homework helps the student to review the lesson taught and practice the concepts covered during class. Homework also helps students to prepare for classroom tests and enhance their skills. Students in elementary and younger that do not learn how to read will have more trouble in high school doing homework. (huffington-cite) Homework is excellent for parents to see what their children are learning in school and how well their child is understanding it.…

If a kid is inside all day doing homework, they never get to go outside and have fun with friends or make friends with other people. When I get home from school all I do is stay inside and do homework all day. People might say that homework helps the mind, but it also brings a great deal of stress on a child. But when a child goes and plays all the stress just goes away and they have lots of fun instead of being stressed out. I could actually have a life then instead of doing homework all day. I could participate in extracurricular activities like I used to when I participated in lacrosse, but now I can’t because my grades are slipping due to not finishing homework! I could do fun things instead of homework because it keeps me cooped up inside like a prisoner in a penitentiary cell and I hate it (“Too Much Homework, Too Little Time”, pg. 2)!” In conclusion, there are many reasons why students do not…

There are various effective arguments I would make to support students having homework by their teachers. The first argument I would make is that homework helps students to better retain the lessons they’ve learned during the school day. Students need a lot of exercises to do to retain what they learn everyday in school. Since class time isn’t enough to provide a lot of exercises on one subject, homework is the best way to exercise what’s been learned in class. If no homework is given to students on a subject that’s been discussed in class, it’s more likely for them to forget the subject the next day.…

Homework has been linked to achieving better results and better grades, so why are some schools banning it? Studies have shown the positive and negative effects of homework, and with a moderate amount, the positive effects outweigh the negative ones. Homework should not be banned, as it teaches discipline and time management skills, as well as supplements and accelerates learning. It is also needed in order to meet international education standards. Homework is important for numerous reasons, one of which being that it helps teach time management skills and discipline, especially in young children.…

A student should find their assignment to be meaningful, not take up to much time, and is attractive to the eye (Carr, 2014, p. 174). While homework can impact achievement, if the family is not able to assist the student, it can lead to more stress and frustrations amoung multiple parties (Carr, 2013, pg. 170). When planning, consideration of families is important. Homework should be accessible for all students. Teachers must be mindful of additional costs, technology, and materials that are available to all students (Danielson, et.…
