Picking up trash, cleaning, and planting flowers for the community is not as bad as some people portray it to be. However, when being forced to volunteer, it makes the whole concept worse. I believe students should not be forced to volunteer to the community in order to receive their diploma and graduate. Students should not be required to volunteer because they already have so much work to be completed for school. Also, volunteer work should be strictly optional and not a requirement for graduating students. In addition, students should not be forced to volunteer because they might not have enough free time. Graduation is an important step to complete in one’s life. Receiving a diploma needs to be taken seriously. In my opinion, receiving …show more content…
School is definitely tough. Many students have to work extremely hard and be concentrated. Many students have to work harder than others academically to keep their grades up. Many students receive advanced diplomas because of their hard work. Students take many different, difficult classes, which involve a great deal of work. Difficult classes will lead to an advantage later on in life. Also, schools tend to create programs that students can enroll in. Beta club, Honor society, and Book Club are all programs schools have created for students. All programs that a school offers is more beneficial than volunteer work. Secondly, volunteer work should be strictly optional and not a requirement. Students should want to benefit the community on their own, and not be forced to do so. When someone freely volunteers, it makes the person feel better about actually doing it. Also, if someone is someone optionally volunteers, they are likely to do a better job. Once I volunteered, I was happy about being there and putting my own time and effort into my community. Since I volunteered on my own, I put forth more effort and time. I was delighted to be there. Volunteer work is a great idea but someone should not be required to

, Ignacio Sanchez, a student at Glynn Academy do not agree with students to complete 100 hours of community service in order to Graduate high school. In the following paragraphs I will explain why I do not agree with policy. One and most critical is the amount of time that it consumes and takes up! Time is one thing that is very valuable no matter who you are. 100 hours is equivalent to almost 4 whole days it might not seem much but if you are a very busy person it will be extremely difficult to accomplish this task or even impossible depending on who you are.…

I do not believe that all United Sates citizens should be required to to preform at least one year of community service by the time they are thirty years of age. Forcing someone to help when they aren't willing can do more damage than good. If the person does not want to help they shoulfnt be forced to do so. Volunterring comes from the heart of the person, if their heart is not it, it will not be benificial to the people receiving the help. Most people tend to volunteer at churches, food banks, schools and even in the fire department.…

Since college students are well suited for community service, by doing community services, they can "create...a lifelong commitment to volunteering. " They can also start "addressing the needs of those around them" because by doing that, they can help their community become better than it was before. Although performing community service can be helpful towards the individual themself and to those who live in the community, young people shouldn't be required to perform public services. Young people should not be forced to complete something that they do not want to do. Nobody wants to recieve "community service from someone who is forced to serve" because it does not give a good feeling to what they are doing.…

Anytime we perform a service for a community, we hope that it provides the best outcomes for people and that the community actually wants our “help.” Volunteers need to follow the ideals of the community perspective: mutuality, reciprocity, humility, respect, and sustainability in order to understand the community’s needs and prevent unnecessary harm. If communication is clear and consistent, then the community should prosper from the service being done. If the service is international, students should research some of the current issues in that country since they are not as familiar with the cultural aspects. For example, if the community needs a well and asks for it, then that is what the volunteers should provide not a schoolhouse.…
