The school needs to realize that they should give the opportunity of open campus to all so they do not have to eat the same old food every single

An open campus teaches teenagers time management. When my mother was younger her high school was open campus, and it taught her to be prompt and timely in her classes, and then later on in life. Having schools be open campus prepares students for when they have jobs and go on their daily lunch break. Schools should not be afraid of students not coming back after being let off campus; teenagers should be reprimanded appropriately and deal with the consequences of their actions. This is one of the things we need to integrate into high school again to allow teenagers more responsibility in high…

FOR Jennifer White, a senior at North Shore High School in Glen Head, an open campus has meant the freedom to leave school at lunch time, as well as during other free periods, to work on independent research projects. This, Ms. White says, is a privilege she cannot afford to lose. However, if the School District decides, by its targeted deadline of mid-November, to close the high school campus, students no longer will be permitted to leave school during the time when they are not in scheduled classes. The current policy at North Shore High School, which has been in effect for more than 15 years, allows all of the 547 students in Grades 9 through 12 to leave campus during lunch or other free periods.…

There would be very few students who like exactly the same thing so the cooks would have to make many different foods. The possibility for excessive waste would be high also, because the cooks would not know how many students would eat each type of prepared food. The many different meals would mean a substantial increase in the cost to prepare each meal. This would almost certainly mean students would have to pay more for their lunches, so it could be an excessive burden for some families.…
