Should Students Be Allowed To Chew Gum In School?

Superior Essays
Have you ever wondered why students aren't allowed to chew gum in class? There are many studies and experiments that show why students should be able to chew gum.
The idea of chewing gum is to stimulate the brain by constantly chewing on a piece of substance. Gum has been proven to improve cognitive abilities because chewing increases blood flow to the brain. This increases the cognitive abilities when doing extensive and difficult tasks; such as counting numbers backwards, solving equations, and other complex mental tasks. A similar cognitive effect happens when doing physical labor or athletic activities because of the increased blood flow throughout the body. So given the benefits, why do many schools ban the chewing of gum in the classroom
