Hearing what other teacher has done in their class to help assist a student that struggled in certain areas may help a teacher help one of their students who is struggling in the same area. T. Scace shared by talking to a regular education Math teacher, she leaned different way to start a procedure to explain the process of integers to her high students in math. T.Scace also shared by making a poster that provides the steps to different math problems with what she called a math wall will allow the students to refer to the wall and problem solve on their own in some cases. The same goes for English, but displaying definitions of verbs, nouns, and so on the students are often able to complete the work more independently, which is often a goal within their IEP’s per T.Scace. T.Scace stated that teachers learn as they teach, meaning they learn teaching techniques that work as well as techniques that do not work so well. Teaching a classroom full of 15 or more students that each learn in a different way, comprehend differently, and have different levels of physical or health impairments can become overwhelming at times. In order to have a successful classroom that provides a learning environment for each student requires a teacher that is willing to go beyond just teaching out of a book. A special education teacher must not only teach grade level appropriate curriculum, but teach it in a way that different academic levels are able to learn from the lesson. In order to do this the teacher must know their students and know what limits, they have been capable of achieving, yet pushing them to excel beyond that level to grow academically. There are several way special education teacher accomplish this, some examples are adding poster throughout the room to assist the students as reminders on the procedures of math problems, providing definitions used in English. Modifying work that benefits the students, this may mean the teacher will modify the same worksheet many different ways to accommodate different students. In order for a student to receive the best education possible the teacher must know their individualized physical and health impairments, familiarizing themselves with the student’s IEP, and collaborate with other teacher and use their experiences as well as their own to see each student is receiving everything they need
