Should Spanish classes be mandatory? At most colleges, you must take one foreign language class for 2 to 4 years at most middle and high schools. I don’t see why that’s necessary. If your college major is Spanish oriented or you just want to take it, that’s fine, but for Those of us who have no need nor want to learn Spanish, we shouldn’t have to. As I previously mentioned, most colleges require you take Spanish for a certain amount of years in middle and high school, I see no reason for that. One college in particular does not require it, Iowa State does not require it at all for agriculture and life science, but that is only one major, most others still require two or more years, which, unless you want to take, and show interest in it,
